Xiaomi is going to shut down its popular short video app in India. Taking a shocking decision, the company has decided to ban this popular app from Google Play Store in India. The app has more than 10 crore downloads. It was considered to be a competitor of TikTok but the company has issued a notice to shut it down. According to the report, the company will take the Zili app offline on March 13.

Xiaomi’s short video app is present on Google Play with more than 100 million downloads. Short video apps are quite popular in India and Jilli is also one of them. According to which, a notice for this has also been issued in the app itself. The notice states that the app is being shut down due to operational adjustments. At the same time, instructions have also been issued to app users to store their content offline and redeem their Z-points before the shutdown date.

Instructions have been issued by the app that after the specified date, all the data will be deleted from the Jili server and it will not be possible to retrieve it again. Zili was launched in 2018. Whereas TikTok was banned in India in 2020. After that the number of its users increased rapidly and by now it had been downloaded more than 10 crore times. The app was already installed in the recently launched Xiaomi smartphones, due to which the number of its users was increasing rapidly.

After the ban of TikTok, Zili’s subscriber base increased rapidly in India. Although after the ban of TikTok, many more short video apps came into existence in India, but not everyone’s luck was very good. At the same time, other apps of Xiaomi also faced difficulties in India. This also includes the company’s apps like Mi Browser and Mi Video Call which have faced ban in India.
