59 Chinese companies including TikTok, WeChat have been permanently banned in India. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) had banned these apps last year. These apps were banned in India in June 2020. Now according to the report it is being said that this ban on these apps has become permanent. Earlier, sources had told Tech News by Careers Ready that after the ban, the government had sought feedback from all the app companies on how they were using the data they were collecting from the users. However, now it seems that the government is not satisfied with the response given by the companies. According to the report, the government has issued a notice to the companies last week.

In such a situation, it is not good for those apps which were banned in India last year. The figure of banned apps in India has crossed 200. In this series, PUBG Mobile was also banned in India. However, since then this company is preparing to return to India. The company is preparing to launch its India only version PUBG Mobile India in India. The company has also done fresh hiring in India for this. But through RTI, information was received that MeitY has not yet given any permission to relaunch this game in India.

In such a situation, MeitY’s response shows that there is no hope of launching this game in India soon. However, it is not yet clear what impact this decision will have on the jobs of more than 100 people working for ByteDance. However, sources have told Tech News by Careers Ready that after the ban on this game in India, people working in India were retained and they were playing their role in the global operation. However, nothing can be said on what effect the permanent ban will have on people’s jobs.

“We are evaluating the notice and will respond appropriately,” a TikTok spokesperson told Mint. We are trying to follow the law and regulations with the Government of India. For us, privacy and security of users is on top priority.
