Billionaire Elon Musk has been warned by the European Union (EU) to impose restrictions on the microblogging site Twitter. The EU has expressed displeasure over Twitter blocking many journalists on its platform. The EU said that restrictions could be imposed on Twitter in the upcoming media law.

EU Commissioner Vera Jourova tweeted, “Twitter’s unilateral suspension of journalists is worrying. The EU’s Digital Services Act requires media freedom and fundamental rights to be respected. This is reiterated in our Media Freedom Act.” Elon Musk should be aware of this. Violation of this may lead to sanctions soon.” Twitter has banned the accounts of many journalists who used to give reports related to Musk. These include journalists from the Washington Post, the New York Times, Mashable, CNN and Substack.

The tweets of these journalists have also been removed. Musk has sold shares worth about $3.58 billion of electric car company Tesla this week. However, it is not clear where the money received from this is being spent. In the information given to America’s Securities and Exchange Commission, it has been said that Tesla Chief Executive Officer Musk has sold shares from Monday to Wednesday.

Tesla’s value has declined by more than half since Musk made a bid for microblogging site Twitter in April. Musk has sold approximately $23 billion worth of company shares since April. This may make it easier for them to raise funds for the $44 billion deal to buy Twitter. Due to the fall in Tesla’s share price, Musk has also lost the title of the world’s richest person. According to Forbes, Musk’s net worth has declined to approximately $174 billion. French businessman Bernard Arnault has overtaken Musk to become the world’s richest person. Musk is facing difficulties after taking over Twitter. Some big companies have stopped advertising on Twitter. Musk has said that the decrease in advertisements has had a big impact on Twitter’s revenue.
