Zoom has been under the scanner for security reasons for some time now, everyone is advising not to use the Zoom app. Big security agencies have also advised government officials not to use this app. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Zoom announced in its Video Communications that it is upgrading encryption features in its video conferencing app, to provide better protection to data and also provide protection against tampering. The company said in its statement that the new version of this app is Zoom 5.0, which will be released within this week. The new version will provide many features including better encryption, data routing control, improved host control.

Let us tell you, the number of people using Zoom app has increased from 10 million daily users to 200 million daily users in the last three months. However, the number of users has decreased after security researchers found bugs in it. At the same time, the company has also failed to disclose that its service was not end-to-end encrypted.

Problems like “Zoombombing” were seen in this app, in which members became part of the conferencing without being invited. Because of this, some companies, schools and governments stopped using it.

The company has started a 90-day plan to fix the security problem, and for this the company has appointed former Facebook Security Chief Alex Stamos as an advisor. In the market, this app competes with video conferencing apps like Microsoft Teams and Cisco’s Webex.

zoom said that they have made several changes to their user interface, including providing more controls for password protection and uninvited member screening. The biggest change in this is the AES 256-bit GCM encryption standard.

Other changes include a security icon to access Zoom security features, a default-on waiting room, a password feature for cloud recording, and account securing for contact sharing. The company says that some features have also been made available.
