Watch movies and series for 365 days for just Rs 599, Amazon’s cheapest Prime Video plan will blow away Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar.

Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition was launched in India on Monday as an affordable version of the company’s video streaming service. Last year, the e-commerce company had introduced Prime Video Mobile Edition for Airtel customers in partnership with the telecom operator. Due to this, the plan has been expanded to all customers in India. However, in this, membership of Amazon Prime Video is available only with mobile.

Amazon on Monday launched Prime Video Mobile Edition, a cheaper version of its streaming subscription service, priced at Rs 599 per year. According to Amazon, the mobile version will provide access to just one user and will be available on one smartphone.

According to Amazon, subscribers will have access to all videos available on the service in standard-definition (SD) on a single smartphone. This service will be available for single users. Unlike the full Prime Video experience that comes with an Amazon Prime subscription, users won’t have access to multiple profiles and can’t stream content at 4K resolution on computers or smart TVs.

Amazon says customers can sign up for the plan through the Prime Video app on Android or visit the Prime Video website to purchase an annual subscription to the Prime Video mobile version. Customers can also choose to upgrade to the full Prime Video experience priced at Rs 1,499. This plan is equipped with other Amazon Prime benefits including music streaming and fast delivery.

As part of the company’s announcement, Amazon is looking to expand access to the mobile-only plan that it introduced in partnership with Airtel last year. In which access to content is available like normal Prime Video customers. Along with this, 6GB data is available for 28 days, which costs Rs 89. During that time, Airtel customers could also choose the option of Rs 290. This plan offered daily 1.5GB data and access to Prime Video Mobile Edition with a validity of 28 days. Amazon is trying to increase its growth in India as it competes with other streaming services like Netflix, Voot and Disney+ Hotstar. Prime Video mobile version can help the company compete with Netflix.
