Video sharing app TikTok has said that a limit of 60 minutes of screen time in a day will be set for every user under 18 years of age on its platform. This will help teenagers to control their activity on TikTok. There is also a demand to ban the worldwide popular TikTok in many countries. Government employees in America and European Union have also been banned from using it.

Issued by TikTok Press release It has been told that once the 60 minute limit is reached, users will be asked to enter a passcode to continue watching the video. TikTok’s Head of Trust and Safety, Cormac Keenan, said, “There is no clear collective position on the appropriate limit for screen time. We consulted with academic research and experts to choose this limit.” This feature may launch in the coming weeks. However, there can be an option to turn off this default setting for TikTok users under 18 years of age.

The screen time per day will be set at 60 minutes for users under 13 years of age on this video sharing platform. Once this limit is reached, parents will have to enter a passcode for 30 additional minutes of screen time. Questions have been raised over the years about TikTok and other social media platforms due to their impact on youth. The app is also facing difficulties due to Bytedance, the company that runs TikTok, being linked to China.

Last month, TikTok had decided to wrap up its remaining business in India. It had a sales support team in India. This team was hired three years ago to support the company’s global sales teams. Due to the risk to the country’s security, the central government had banned about 60 apps related to China about three years ago. These apps included TikTok. After this, ByteDance had significantly reduced the number of workers in the country. Before the ban, TikTok was estimated to have around 200 million users in the country. Many influencers in India also suffered losses due to this.
