A nationwide campaign is underway to avoid the outbreak of COVID-19 i.e. Corona virus. Everyone is trying to stop this virus from spreading in their own way. While governments are trying their best to stop this virus, people like you and me are sitting at home to stop it from spreading. At the same time, some people are also coming forward to help by taking forward the government efforts. One of them is Professor Kamal Jain of the Civil Engineering Department of IIT Roorkee. Kamal Jain has developed a tracking mobile app which will help in tracking the Corona virus infected suspect.

Kamal Jain says that this tracking system helps in monitoring during COVID-19. Apart from facilitating quarantine management, it also prevents crowd gathering at any place by issuing alerts to the agency.

This app can track the person. For this he prepares a geofence. If the quarantined person tries to cross the geofence, this app automatically issues an alert. Apart from live tracking, through this app the administrator can also keep an eye on the history of every movement of the quarantined person.

Apart from GPS data, if the internet is not working properly, the quarantined person’s location can also be traced through messages.

Other features of this app also include multi-camera support, surveillance magnetic device, halt time and auto camera click.

Professor Ajit K Chaturvedi, Director, IIT-Roorkee, said, “We are committed to assisting the efforts of the government during these unprecedented times. This system will greatly help in tracking and monitoring of COVID-19 suspects.”
