Amazon on Wednesday announced that Madhavan’s directorial debut Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is set to have a digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 26. The biographical drama, based on the life of former Indian Space Research Organization scientist and aerospace engineer Nambi Narayanan, was launched in theaters on July 1.

Narayanan was framed for espionage and jailed in 1994. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect highlights “his achievements, his passion for the country’s space mission, his unmatched dedication and the charge that ultimately became the biggest personal and professional issue of his life.” Rocketry was titled by Madhavan, who also wrote and produced the film. Simran and Ranjit Kapoor also acted in it.

On Prime Video, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. There is no update yet regarding the streaming of Hindi and English versions of the film. In the Tamil version, Suriya made a guest appearance, while the Hindi version featured Shah Rukh Khan in the same role. Madhavan said that he is excited to see what kind of response the film will receive on Prime Video.

“It’s a great honor for me to bring this story to life,” Madhavan said in a prepared statement. “I am truly humbled by the amount of love the film has received already and am excited to see what’s next for our film with streaming.

“Taking on this role and directing this incredible story of Nambi sir was such a joy and I am glad that we will be able to reach many more homes to inspire, enlighten and entertain through Amazon Prime Video.” Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is a production of Tricolor Films and Varghese Mulan Pictures.
