The grocery delivery app formerly known as Grofers, now Blinkit, is in the headlines these days. According to a report, around one thousand delivery executives of Blinkit have left the company. All of them join rival companies like Swiggy Instamart, Zepto and BB Now. Blinkit’s delivery executives have taken this decision in protest against the changes made in the payout structure. Economic Times has told this quoting industry executives.

Report According to , the delivery executives of the company had gone on strike following the change in the payout structure. They protested for a week and then about a thousand delivery executives joined hands with other companies! Reports suggest that Blinkit has cut the payments made to delivery executives. The minimum payment has been reduced to Rs 15 per trip, which was earlier fixed at Rs 25 per delivery and an incentive of Rs 7 per trip was given during peak hours.

Many of Blinkit’s dark stores and micro warehouses in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad were closed for a few days due to protests by delivery executives. The company is starting them again. Blinkit has around 200 such warehouses in Delhi-NCR, with the help of which it delivers to customers within a radius of 2 to 3 km.

According to the report, Blinkit had around 3,000 delivery executives in Delhi-NCR before the strike. About one-third of them have joined other companies. It is not known how many executives the company has right now, as it is also adding new people. The report also spoke to a former delivery executive of Blinkit.

According to him, we were hopeful that the company would return to the old rate card. When this did not happen, Mohammad Zakir started working with Zepto. Rival companies benefited from the opposition Blinkit faced. According to another report by ET, due to the strike, BigBasket, Zepto and Instamart saw a 25 to 50 percent increase in orders. The 100 Blinkit stores that had to be temporarily closed due to the strike have now opened. It is worth noting that Blinkit is owned by Zomato.
