Password security feature updated in Google Chrome app, you will get alert if tampered

Google Chrome has brought improvements related to password security and other safety features for Android and iOS. If your saved password is compromised, the browser will immediately alert you and send you a password change form. Chrome will send a copy of your username and password to Google in a secure format, which Google will then scan for compromised information without removing your username and password.

Technology giant launches web standards support Has been added, which works to provide the URL to change the password to the websites. This makes the process of changing the password of the users easier. Using this standard, Chrome will alert users that their password has been compromised and then immediately take them to a webpage where they can change their password.

Google has also introduced some more features in Chrome 86, which have been released to improve user security. An improved Safe Browsing feature has also been released for Android, through which Chrome will protect you from phishing, malware and other dangerous sites through real-time data sharing with Safe Browsing service. Google released Enhanced Safe Browsing for desktop earlier this year and in a blog post Information Predictive phishing protection saw a nearly 20 percent drop in the number of users typing their passwords into phishing sites.

Chrome for iOS has also added a biometric authentication step before autofilling passwords. You can set up authentication using your Face ID, Touch ID, or phone passcode. If you turn on Chrome Autofill in Settings, Chrome Password Manager will allow you to autofill passwords saved in iOS apps or the browser.

Chrome 86 for Android also brings ‘mixed form warnings’, which will warn users before submitting an insecure form embedded on an HTTPS page. Such pages allow users to download content through insecure links or use forms that allow data to be submitted insecurely.
