“We are aware of this issue. We are working to fix the issue,” a WhatsApp spokesperson said in an email to Tech News by Careers Ready.
The first information about this bug came from the website that monitors WhatsApp beta app. WABetaInfo Gave it last week. It was said in the report that this bug is automatically deleting old messages. At present, it is not clear whether this bug is part of the old version of WhatsApp or the latest version.
An affected user posted on twitter“I am having this problem since June 2018. My old important messages are getting deleted. I sent many emails to WhatsApp, but now they have stopped responding too. I tried everything. Reset the phone. Different WhatsApp Used the version. Changed the phone, but nothing worked.”
We could not independently verify this problem. However, some users believe that this was due to the decision taken by WhatsApp in November to delete old Google Drive backups. The Facebook-owned company had informed all its users that those users who had not made a backup of their data and chats on Google Drive for more than a year. Their backup will be automatically deleted.
