Ola and Uber stopped ‘share’ and ‘pool’ ride services

Ola and Uber have temporarily closed ‘pool’ service in India amid the coronavirus outbreak. Let us tell you that in Pool Service, users can share the ride with other users. It is a cheap ride and is used extensively in India. However, to reduce the spread of coronavirus, the company has stopped the ride sharing mode. The government and all private companies are motivating their employees to work from home and not go out. In such a situation, Ola and Uber are also adopting this step and following the social distancing rules, they are temporarily stopping ride sharing. However, users can book non-pool rides on both Ola and Uber apps.

Cab companies have been continuously sending notifications and messages to users to stay safe and maintain hygiene during the COVID-19 outbreak that has affected over 250 people in the country.

(Translated) “In our efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19, we are temporarily suspending the ‘Ola Share’ option until further notice,” Ola said in a statement to Tech News by Careers Ready.

Ola app has completely removed the share option. However, users can still book other cab options such as Micro, Mini, Prime, and Exec etc. The company has also kept its rent and outstation options operational.

Like Ola, Uber is also not taking bookings for pool rides on its platform, but the option of pool is visible in the app.

Apart from this, Ola on Saturday announced a coverage of Rs 30,000 for its driver partners and their spouses affected by COVID-19. Apart from this, a daily compensation of Rs 1,000 has also been promised for a maximum of 21 days. The company has also partnered with online doctor consultation app Mfine to provide free medical assistance to its driver partners and family members.
