Flipkart’s decision to suspend its core service comes soon after rival Amazon India’s announcement. Let us tell you that Amazon has said that the company will now accept orders only for essential products.
Flipkart says that the company will resume the service as soon as possible. It is likely that the e-commerce platform will not accept new orders until the new 21-day lockdown announced by the government ends on March 24. Meanwhile, rival Amazon will continue to offer its services but will give priority to only essential products to people in lockdown to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection.

As of now all the products on Flipkart are having “Out of Stock” status, but some services are still active. Flipkart users can still pay their phone, water, electricity, broadband etc. bills through the app. Flipkart Video streaming platform is also operational, through which users can watch movies and TV shows etc.
In the Flipkart Game Zone, users can still play online games, while in “KreatorCentral” users can watch DIY art and craft videos. Flipkart has also partnered with GiveIndia to donate health kits and other essentials that will help fight the coronavirus situation.
