Music of Android smartphone will be controlled from computer, Microsoft is testing the feature

Microsoft is testing a new feature that will let Android users control their smartphone’s music through a Windows 10 computer. Users will be able to access and control the music of their Android smartphone directly through the Your Phone app on the computer. Currently, this feature is limited to ‘Your Phone app’ working on the latest Windows builds, while Microsoft has said that this Your Phone app will gradually be rolled out for version 1.20041.82 and above. Your Phone app is developed by Microsoft for Windows 10 so that it can be connected to Android devices. With the help of this app, not only music but also phone calls and photos present in the phone can be accessed on the computer.

Microsoft has blog The post says that users can play, pause and switch the music played in the audio app of their smartphone through this app. Music apps that Your Phone desktop app can control include Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Music, Google Play Music, YouTube Music, Xiaomi Music, and Google Podcast, etc. The post says that if permission is granted by your phone, by default your phone’s music played in the Your Phone app will be visible on your computer.

Regarding the system in which this feature will be supported, Microsoft has made it clear that this feature will be available only in those computers which are updated after Windows 10 October 2018. Apart from this, your Android phone should work on Android 7 Nougat or above version.

Microsoft also clarified in its blog post that when it was testing this Your Phone App music control feature, it noticed some problems, which are as follows-

1. Some audio apps support previous track, some support ‘rewind track’.

2. Currently, YouTube video and audio are not supported on this feature.

It is noteworthy that earlier this month, Microsoft had added a new feature in Your Phone desktop app, in which Samsung users can drag and drop their phone’s files to the Windows 10 computer with the help of Wi-Fi. However, once again this feature was only available to Windows Insider Build users.
