The giant tech company’s virtual assistant ‘Google Assistant’ will now say ‘Namaste’ to the user in Hindi and will also understand other directions. The company has now made it capable of speaking and understanding Hindi language. The service of this assistant has been provided to Android (above 6.0 Marshmallow and other supported) phone users. It has been said that soon this assistant will also start supporting Android 5.0 Lollipop, iPhone and Android Go Edition smartphones.

Last year, Google had made Hindi Assistant Allo available in English for other phones and exclusively in Jio 4G feature phones. Now the Hindi Assistant feature has been released for users from Thursday. We used this assistant on LG G5 running Android 7.0. When you say ‘Namaste’ it responds by saying ‘Namaste’. It also comes with a smiley with ‘namaste’ written on it. For this feature, you have to press and hold the home button of the phone for a few seconds. Also, if you want to see ‘Namaste’ written in Hindi, then you will have to go to the system language option and select Hindi.

With the help of Google Assistant, you can ask and tell, “How are you, what are you doing, how was your day, which road is nearby, where can be reached quickly?” Say, “Set an alarm for 7 a.m. tomorrow,” and she’ll be able to do that for you, too.

In the smartphones which we mentioned support, you press their home button for a few seconds. Then say ‘Ok Google’, after this Google Assistant will be ‘present’ at your service. You can use it to message someone when you are busy, make a call, set a reminder and ask for directions.

Google Assistant’s Technical Program Manager Purvi Shah said, “Google Assistant is completely Indian. It understands your things in your language. From biriyani recipes to knowing cricket scores, it will help you.

Google Assistant features machine learning built on two decades of search experience and knowledge of languages, computers, and user content. You will be able to ask Google Assistant such questions as – Where is the nearest Punjabi restaurant?, How much time will it take to reach Dadar?, What is the current cricket score? Similarly, you will also be able to give instructions to Google Assistant – wake me up at 7 am tomorrow, take a selfie, send SMS to daddy that he will reach in 5 minutes.
