American smartphone and tech company Apple has decided to give reasons for removing an app from its App Store. The company was accused of threatening freedom of expression in countries like China and Russia due to not getting complete information about the process of removing its app. Apple has given consent to this to some shareholders of the company.

Last year, nearly one-third of the company’s shareholders passed a resolution to increase transparency in the company’s interactions with governments abroad. Apple had removed a large number of apps from the App Store in countries like China and Russia, after which questions were raised about this process of the company. One of the Financial Times Report According to , the company was asked to explain why it had removed some apps from the App Store in China about two years ago. Apple has decided that it will provide information about how many apps have received requests to be removed from the App Store from which country. Along with this, it will also be told whether these requests were due to legal violations or not and whether the company has agreed to them or not.

The company will also tell its shareholders how many apps have been removed in which country due to violation of App Store guidelines. This information will be given in Apple’s transparency report. Earlier, Apple had been removing apps at the request of governments abroad. The company’s app store in China doesn’t have encrypted messaging apps or many social media apps. In India too, many apps and games including PUBG Mobile and Garena Free Fire have been banned on the App Store.

Apple exported iPhones worth more than $2.5 billion from India between April and December last year. This is almost double the company’s total exports from India last year. This indicates that Apple is accelerating the shift of production of its devices due to difficulties in China. In the first nine months of the current financial year, contract manufacturing companies Foxconn and Wistron for Apple have each exported devices worth more than a billion dollars from the country. At the end of last year, iPhone production was significantly affected due to the sabotage by workers at Foxconn’s factory in China and the restrictions imposed due to Corona.
