Walt Disney’s subsidiary Hotstar has removed an episode of British comedian John Oliver from its platform. The reason behind this is being said by Oliver to take a dig at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Recently, in his popular program ‘Last Week Tonight’, Oliver took a dig at Narendra Modi regarding the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act. This program airs on HBO, in which Oliver makes fun of famous people from the field of cinema, politics etc. However, perhaps he was not aware that satirizing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding CAA would cost him a bit.

John Oliver had discussed CAA in detail in one of his recent Last Week Tonight shows, due to which he also trended a lot on Twitter. Many veterans had also tweeted about this show of Oliver, but PM Modi And due to some comments made regarding CAA, this episode has been banned in India.

In this recent episode still available on YouTube, Oliver started the show with US President Donald Trump’s visit to India, but later Oliver also commented on CAA and PM Narendra Modi. In it he described PM Modi’s image as a “temporary symbol of hatred” and compared it to the Taj Mahal, a “permanent symbol of love”. This episode of Last Week Tonight seems to be entirely related to CAA-NRC.

Let us tell you that this is not the first time that an episode of a show has been banned in India. Last year in November, Amazon Prime India had also banned the first episode of season 5 of the CBS show ‘Madam Secretary’. The reason behind this was the episode’s inclusion of issues related to Hindu nationalism.
