Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched the BHIM app based on UPI (United Payment Interface). Its full name is Bharat Interface for Money. BHIM app is a new incarnation of UPI app with the help of which anyone can make digital payments directly from their bank account.

With the help of this app based on UPI, any user can make payments and receive money through online banking. This is completely different from PayMate wallet for which you have to install the app and add money to use it.

While launching the app, Prime Minister Modi said, “Whether you have a smartphone or a feature phone worth Rs 1,000-1,200. The BHIM app will work with everyone. There will be no need for internet connectivity. Some security features are currently being tested. Soon You only need your thumb to use it.”

What is BHIM App?
Any person can send or receive money digitally through BHIM app. This app will be linked to your bank account. In such a situation, you will not have to worry about putting money in the wallet. At the same time, shopkeepers will also be freed from the worry of transferring money from their payment wallet to their bank account.

How will this app come on your phone?
You can download BHIM app from Google Play Store. This app has been released by National Payments Corporation of India. This app is available for free. This app will soon be made available on iOS platform also.

How will it be used?
After downloading the BHIM app, you will have to register your bank account with the app. After this the UPI PIN will have to be set. Your mobile is your payment address. Through the app you can send and receive money to any phone. Can check balance. Payment can be made by scanning the QR code and no phone number is required for this.

In banks which are not connected to the UPI platform, you will be able to send money through IFSC as before.

Will this work with feature phones?
Apart from the app, the interface can be accessed via USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) from feature phones. You need to dial *99# to access it. This method will not require internet connection.

Which banks are connected to this app?
Almost all big banks support this app. If your bank supports UPI then you can access your money through BHIM app. These banks support UPI- Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Catholic Sarian Bank, Central Bank of India, DCB Bank, Dena Bank, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDFC Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, IndusInd Bank, Karnataka Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank, RBL Bank, South Indian Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, State Bank of India , Syndicate Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India, Vijaya Bank.
