An instruction has been issued by the Department of Telecommunication (DOT) for mobile users. Actually, since last few days some customers have been receiving a call in the name of DOT, in which they were being told that the SIM card will be closed within 2 hours. To avoid this, many types of details are being asked from people. The department has issued an advisory regarding this and told people that this is a fake call being made by scammers and no such call is being made by DOT.

Block fake numbers immediately

The Department of Telecommunications has appealed to immediately disconnect such calls as soon as they are received and not to share any personal details on the call. If you have also received this type of call, disconnect it immediately. Apart from this, block the number so that you cannot get calls from the same number again.

Scammers taking advantage of DOT’s name

It is noteworthy that the Department of Telecommunication governs telecom services in India. Taking advantage of this, scammers are targeting people by making fake calls. If you also receive such a call which is said to be from DOT, then disconnect the call immediately and block the number.

Along with this, also report the number so that when any other users receive this call, they will know in advance that this number is spam. Apps like Truecaller provide you the option to report the number as well as describe the scam type. Apart from this, you can also report the number on the National Crime Reporting Portal.
