The Red Magic 9 Pro series was launched in China on Thursday as the company’s new gaming smartphone lineup. The Chinese phone maker has announced two new phones in the series, the Red Magic 9 Pro and the Red Magic 9 Pro+. These phones are based on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. Not only this, to give power to these phones, up to 24GB RAM and 1TB storage has been provided.

The price of 8GB + 256GB RAM and storage configuration of Red Magic 9 Pro is CNY 4,399 (approximately Rs 51,700). At the same time, the price of 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB variants is CNY 4,799 (approximately Rs 57,000) and CNY 5,199 (approximately Rs 61,100) respectively.
On the other hand, the 16GB+256GB RAM and storage model of Red Magic 9 Pro+ is priced at CNY 5,499 (approximately Rs 64,600). Apart from this, the price of 16GB + 512GB variant is CNY 5,799 (approximately Rs 68,900) and the top-of-the-line 24GB + 1TB model is priced at CNY 6,999 (approximately Rs 83,100).
Design
The Red Magic 9 Pro series is said to be the ultimate candy bar phone. It has a completely flat back and full-screen display, meaning there is no camera bump on the back and no front camera cutout on the screen. The camera setup on these devices has a layer of custom-made glass that does not interfere with the light coming into the sensor.
The thickness of the phones is 8.9 mm. At the same time, the series is offered in three color options: Dark Night, Deuterium Front Transparent Dark Night, and Deuterium Front Transparent Silver Wings.
Specifications of Red Magic 9 Pro and Red Magic 9 Pro+
- Display: The device features a 6.8-inch 2480 x 1116 resolution full-screen AMOLED display. At the same time, the screen-to-body ratio is 93.7%. Not only this, the phone’s screen supports 120Hz refresh rate with 2160Hz ultra-high frequency PWM dimming + DC dimming, 960Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate, and 1600nit brightness. The display has full coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut and also supports HDR10+.
- Processor: The handsets are powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, paired with a dedicated Radeon Core R2 gaming chip. It is equipped with LPDDR5x RAM up to 24TB. The company says that the phone is equipped with a 10,182 square millimeter vapor chamber and a new alloy fan with waterfall air duct and the company’s proprietary Cube Engine combined with this setup reduces the temperature of the handset by up to 25 degrees Celsius.
- Battery: The Red Magic 9 Pro is equipped with a 6500mAh battery + 80W fast charge that can fully charge the device in just 35 minutes. Red Magic 9 Pro+, on the other hand, comes with 5500mAh battery + 165W ultra-fast flash charging, which gets fully charged in just 16 minutes. Both models come with TYPE-C charging support.
- OS: Talking about software, Red Magic 9 Pro series works with RedMagic OS 9.0 based on Android 14. One key feature that comes with the new OS is the XGravity 2.0 software.
- Camer: On the rear panel, the Red Magic 9 Pro series sports a 50-megapixel primary camera with a Samsung GN5 sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera with a Samsung JN1 sensor. The handset also has a 16-megapixel under-display camera for selfies and video chats.
- Other: Talking about other features, it includes 520Hz touch shoulder button for gaming, Magic Sound stereo dual speakers, 3 inbuilt mics, Wi-Fi 7, IR remote control, 3.5mm headphone jack and NFC.
