Jio Cinema has made strong arrangements for online entertainment of children in India. Actually, the news is that JioCinema, the entertainment division of Reliance, has reportedly entered into an agreement with The Pokemon Company to present children’s shows and movies on its platform. The move is seen as JioCinema’s effort to enhance its content offering in the face of domestic competition from The Walt Disney Company and other streaming services.

JioCinema and The Pokemon Company deal details

  • Citing sources, a Reuters report said the agreement, finalized this month,
  • Names JioCinema’s streaming app as the exclusive platform partner in India.
  • The deal includes more than 1,000 episodes of Japanese anime series and about 20 movies.
  • However, financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
  • Content including shows and movies will be dubbed in English as well as three Indian languages ​​for a wider audience.
  • According to the report, Pokemon, known for its global billion-dollar media franchise, spans trading cards, games, TV shows and movies.
  • The report also states that earlier, some Pokemon content was available on Voot. However, the recent agreement with JioCinema represents a significantly expanded partnership.
  • Additionally, 91Mobiles can confirm that 12 seasons of the Pokémon TV show and some Pokémon movies are currently streaming on the platform.

Meanwhile, according to reports, JioCinema is making a new effort to grow in the Indian streaming market by including children-focused content. Research firm Media Partners Asia estimates that this market will reach a value of $7 billion by 2027.

The report said that JioCinema plans to include approximately 3,000 hours of children’s content, including movies and shows from Entertainment One, Animacord, Cartoon Network Studios, and DreamWorks.

JioCinema began operations in 2016, initially serving Jio’s cellular customers. However, over time it has evolved into an independent streaming service. Recently, it entered the competitive arena and took on platforms like Hotstar after securing the streaming rights for the FIFA World Cup last year. Additionally, JioCinema further strengthened its presence in the sports streaming segment in India by streaming IPL 2023 earlier this year.
