Reliance Jio is soon going to provide internet service through satellite. According to the report of Economic Times, Reliance Jio may get approval for landing rights and market access from the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) this month. After this approval, the Mukesh Ambani-led telecom company will be able to launch its satellite-based gigabit fiber services in India.
However, no information has been revealed yet by the company regarding this. But, if this happens from Reliance Jio, then it will directly compete with the satellite service of Elon Musk's company Starlink which is waiting to get the license in India.
Jio's file reached IN-SPACe
If reports are to be believed, Reliance Jio has definitely given documents to the space industry regulator IN-SPACe. Therefore, it is expected that the company may get approval soon. Apart from this, this approval is mandatory to deploy global satellite bandwidth capacity in India.
Waiting for approval of IN-SPACe
It is noteworthy that the approval process of IN-SPACe is quite long and difficult. Actually, it requires approval and security clearance from many ministries. At the same time, Jio is not the only company which has sent its file to IN-SPACe for approval, but applications from many companies have come for this.
Let us tell you that last year, Jio Platforms and Luxembourg based satellites company SES had entered into a joint venture with a stake of 51:49 to provide broadband connectivity through satellite.
Additionally, Bharti-backed Eutelsat OneWeb is the only global satellite constellation operator to have received the necessary approvals from IN-SPACe. Besides, in the emerging satellite market in India, companies like Starlink, Amazon and Tata are also racing to make their services live.
