How to activate UAN online?
To avail online services on EPFO portal, you have to first register or activate your UAN. Here we are giving you step by step information about activating UAN through EPFO portal. Before starting this process, you must have your UAN number and PF member ID.
Open the web browser on your device and EPFO Member Portal Open.
Go to 'Services' option on the website dashboard and select 'For Employees' from the drop-down menu.
To access the UAN member portal, click on 'Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP)' in the service section.
There will be many important links on the right side of the new page, in which you have to tap on the 'Activate UAN' option.
Fill the required information including UAN, PF member ID, Aadhar card number, name, date of birth, mobile number and captcha code. After this, click on the 'Get Authorization Pin' button to receive OTP on the registered mobile number.
On the next page, you have to click on the 'I Agree' box. Now you will get OTP on the mobile number registered with Aadhaar, fill it and click on 'Validate OTP and Activate UAN'.
Your UAN activation process is complete. You will receive a password on the registered mobile number, with the help of which you will be able to login to the UAN Member Portal. By logging in you will be able to know the details of your EPF account.
Note: You can change the password received on the mobile number on the UAN member portal. Along with this, if you have forgotten your password then you can easily reset it. However for this you will need UAN number.
Documents required to activate UAN
If this is your first job in a registered company then you will have to submit some documents to your company for UAN number. UAN number is generated only once. How to know UAN number?
There are two ways to know the UAN number. You can find out from the official website of your company or EPFO.
Know UAN number from EPFO portal

First of all you have to go to EPFO member portal. Here you have to click on Services > For Employees. After this you have to click on Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP). By doing this you will directly reach the UAN portal.
Here you have to click on 'Know Your UAN' in the important links section.
Now you have to fill the registered mobile number and captcha code. Now you have to click on the 'Request OTP' button.
Now you have to type the OTP received on the mobile and enter the captcha code and tap on 'Validate OTP'.
Now a new page will open, here you have to fill your name, date of birth, Aadhaar, PAN, member ID and captcha code. After this you have to click on “Show My UAN” button and you will see the UAN number on the next page.

Is the UAN of a contractual employee registered?
Yes, companies with 20 or more employees are required to generate UAN for employees (whose annual income is more than Rs 15,000). It is necessary for all these employees, whether full time or contractual, to register their UAN.
Is it necessary to link UAN with Aadhaar?
Yes, accounts whose UAN is not linked to Aadhaar cannot transfer or withdraw their PF funds. Besides this, companies are not able to deposit your monthly money in such accounts. In such a situation, it is very important to link Aadhar card with UAN.
Is it necessary to activate UAN number after changing company?
UAN needs to be activated only once. There is no need to reactivate the UAN number after changing the company.
Can I have two UANs?
No, no employee should have more than one UAN. If you have been issued two UANs due to a mistake, you should inform your company about it. You can also give information about this by writing an email to uanepf@epfindia.gov.in. After verification, your old UAN will be blocked. Along with this, you will have to apply to transfer the balance present in the old UAN to the latest UAN.
