Instagram has launched a new feature that will give you the option to download Reels from the app. Yes, till now one had to take the help of third party apps to download Instagram reels. But, now you will be able to download trendy and favorite short videos on your phone directly from your app. You will also be able to easily share these reels with your friends on other social media platforms. However, this feature only applies to public accounts so anyone can download your reels but you will have the option to disable it.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced the new update via the app’s channel. It was first introduced in the US earlier this year, and now the service is becoming available to everyone globally. This feature essentially lets you save Reels from a public account to your Camera Roll. Any reels you download will include a watermark with the creator’s Instagram handle.

- Downloading Instagram reels has become much easier with the new update. All you need to do is open the reel you want to download.
- Then tap on the ‘Share’ icon along with the paper airplane icon. Here you will get the download option. Simply tap on it and the reel will be saved to your camera roll.
- If you have a public account, your reels will be available for download by default. But you can choose to turn off downloads for your reels.
- First, you can do this by going to Profile > Settings & Privacy > Share & Remix > Downloading your Reels. Here, toggle the Download button.
- This feature has just been rolled out so it may take some time to reach your account. You can check by updating the Instagram app from Play Store and App Store.
Let us tell you that Instagram has recently started the service of sharing feed posts and reels only in the list of your close friends. This was previously limited to Stories only but now you can choose to keep some of your feed posts and Reels private.
