WhatsApp has added four new text formatting options to the messaging app. For WhatsApp users, the messenger app has added formatting options named Bulleted Lists, Numbered Lists, Block Quotes and Inline Code. Let us tell you that before these new features, the option of bold, italic, strikethrough and monospace formatting was available on WhatsApp app. The company behind introducing these new text formatting options says that now communication will be done in a better way.

WhatsApp adds new text formatting options

The new WhatsApp text formatting options are available on Android, iOS, web and Mac.

  1. Bulleted List: Now you can create a bulleted list on WhatsApp by typing – symbol followed by space. The bullet points will appear immediately on your text box.
  2. Numbered list: WhatsApp now also lets you create a number list. You can do this by typing 1 or 2 digits, followed by a period and a space. So you basically just write 1. (space), and it will be converted to a number list.
  3. Block Coat: Block quote serves to highlight important text present in a message. To use it, the user must type the > symbol, followed by a space.
  4. Inline code: This is useful in a text message when a line has to be highlighted. To use it, the user has to write text inside the symbol ' '. This means that these symbols should be present before and behind the text.

The new WhatsApp features are also available for individual chats and group chats. Channel admins can use the new WhatsApp text formatting option. These features will be especially helpful for those coders who have been waiting for these features on WhatsApp for a long time.

Let us tell you that WhatsApp now offers a total of eight text formatting options. Currently includes bold which you can use by wrapping text in * symbol without space. Italics can be activated by typing _Message_. You can also add a strikethrough by typing ~message~. Finally, monospace can be added by typing “message”.
