BSNL to launch 4G services in next six months

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) had offered 4G SIM upgrade offer a few days ago. With this offer the company was giving 4GB data. At the same time, news is now coming that the company is planning to deploy 4G equipment at 4,300 sites in Andhra Pradesh circle. It is being told that the company aims to cover 3,800 villages of the state by December 2023 through the installation of 1,536 towers. Speaking to the media, the executive confirmed that the central government has ordered the telco to set up an ‘indigenous 4G’ network as a part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. Additionally, the executive confirmed that 4G equipment will be commissioned at 4,300 sites in the Andhra Pradesh circle, which can also be upgraded to 5G.

Seshachalam also said that the ‘Antyodaya Vision’ of the central government will ensure digital inclusivity in remote villages. Its work is expected to be completed by December 2023. CGF also confirmed that 3,800 villages in Andhra Pradesh Telecom circle will be covered by installing 1,536 towers in remote locations.

At the seventh edition of Mobile India Congress, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) P.K. Purwar also confirmed that the company plans to complete the rollout of its 4G services by June 2024 and the rollout of 5G services should begin after that.

The company is preparing to launch its 4G service from Punjab at the end of December. Purwar also confirmed that the company has done the necessary hardening for the network consisting of 200 sites.
