This year Apple had given action button in iPhone 15 Pro model. However, the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus do not have this feature. Now, if rumors are to be believed, next year the vanilla iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will also have an action button along with the Pro model. Not only this, this action button will be different in design from the current generation and will allow more functionalities.
What to expect from Apple iPhone 16 action button?
MacRumours As per reports, all iPhone 16 models will have an action button which will be capacitive in nature. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have mechanical buttons. This means the new Action button can work like the Touch ID home button on older iPhones or the Force Touch trackpad on new MacBooks.
Apart from this, if reports are to be believed, the action button is codenamed Atlas and it will have a force sensor that will be able to analyze pressure and “tact-switching functionality”. Additionally, the documents mention a capture button on the iPhone 16 series that may function similar to the action button.
Details are a bit vague but the company is expected to ship all future iPhones including the iPhone SE 4 with action buttons. So, it appears that Apple is removing the signature ring/silent button in favor of this new button. MacRumours also claims that Apple is also working on larger-sized action buttons that look like the iPhone volume rockers.

- Shortcut: Use the Action button to access any shortcuts saved on your iPhone.
