SSC CGL Tier I exam pattern
The first level of SSC CGL selection process is known as Tier 1 exam. This examination is qualifying in nature (i.e. those who cross the cutoff of this level are selected for the next level and the score of this level is not included in the final merit list). The paper consists of 4 sections General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension. Each section consists of 25 questions and candidates are provided an overall time of 60 minutes to solve the entire paper. For each correct answer, 2 marks are added to the score and for each wrong answer, 0.5 marks are deducted.

SSC CGL Tier II Exam Pattern
Candidates who qualify for the first level are eligible for the second level of examination. The pattern of this section has been changed in 2022 and candidates are tested on different subjects. Same subjects in all subjects are same as first class. Apart from them, candidates who have applied for AAO and JSO/SI and cleared the cutoff will appear for some additional subjects.
- Paper I is a compulsory paper and consists of 130 questions (60 in Section I and 70 in Section II) worth 390 marks. Each correct answer adds 3 marks and each wrong answer subtracts 1 mark from the score.
- Section III of the first paper consists of 2 modules. Module I consists of 20 questions on computer knowledge and Module II is a data entry skills test. Both these modules are qualifying in nature and 15 minutes are allotted each.
- Paper II and III have 100 questions and worth 200 marks each. The marking scheme in this section is the same as Tier 1 i.e. (+2) for correct answers and (-0.5) for wrong answers.
