• In-cadre promotion- Employees get the opportunity to get promotion within their existing cadre or post based on their performance, experience and eligibility criteria.

In-cadre promotion is based on home posting and is a time bound promotion

• Employees are given a special allowance of Rs 1800 per month in addition to the total salary and when the associate completes 10 years of service, the associate is promoted to the post of senior associate. This allowance is not included in the calculation of basic pay.
• After twenty years of service the associate will become a special associate. Here a special allowance of Rs 2500 is given every month. After reaching this level, allowances are considered for calculating the basic pay.
• An associate will become a chief associate after completing 30 years of service. After reaching this level, a special allowance of Rs 3500 is paid and this amount is considered for calculating the basic pay.

SBI Clerk Promotion To Officer Cadre

• After completing three years of service an associate trainee becomes an officer. To become an officer, candidates are required to qualify the JAIIB and CAIIB examinations conducted by the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance. Candidates will also have to clear internal written examination and interview. After qualifying the written examination, a probation period of two years is required and after that the candidates appear for interview.
