Famous slogans of the Indian National Movement: The emergence of an educated class and the growth of nationalist sentiments led to critical questioning of power and British rule in India. Supporters of this movement emphasized that India belongs to all people regardless of class, colour, caste, creed, language or gender. The conviction was that the country’s resources and systems were not meant to be exploited.
Growing awareness among the public revealed that British authorities had taken control of India’s resources and the lives of its citizens. It became clear that true ownership of India by its people could only be achieved by ending this control.
