Later, on 30 July 1949, the day gained immense popularity when it was highlighted on radio, films, articles etc. In 1951, V. M. Kulkarni, a social welfare representative of the United Nations, thought of underprivileged children and recommended celebrating the birth of Pandit Nehru. Date as Flag Day. In 1954, Nehru’s birthday was officially designated as “Children’s Day”. In 1957, 14 November was effectively declared as Children’s Day in India.
