Bihar Governor approves bill to increase reservation from 50% to 65%

Bihar Governor, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar approved the ‘Bihar Reservation Amendment Bill’ on 17 November. The way for 65 percent reservation in Bihar has been cleared. Scope of reservation increased for SC-ST, OBC-EBC.

In this context, the General Administration Department of Bihar will publish the gazette. After that it will come into effect. The bill was passed unanimously in the Assembly and Legislative Council in the winter session of the Bihar Legislature. There was a proposal to increase the scope of reservation from 50 to 65 percent. By adding 10 percent of EWS it will become 75 percent.

GDP growth rate likely to be 6.3% in 2024: Goldman Sachs
