Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) examination is one of the most awaited recruitment processes in India with a huge number of vacancies. It is estimated that RRB NTPC 2024 Notification will be published in June 2024. Interested candidates might be thinking about the competition and this can be estimated from the number of applicants.
How many candidates have been shortlisted in RRB NTPC CBT-1? As per the notification released by the Railway Recruitment Board, the number of candidates selected by the Board will be 20 times the number of vacancies available for recruitment. The examination for CBT 1 was conducted by Railways in 7 different phases from 28th December 2021 to 31st July 2022 for a total of 35281 candidates for Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) in various zonal railways and production units of Indian Railways. Eligible candidates were recruited. The revised result for RRB NTPC CBT 1 was released by Railways on 31st March 2022.
In the following table, candidates can see the exact number of candidates selected after the first stage of RRB NTPC exam i.e. CBT 1, all these candidates will appear for RRB NTPC CBT 2. RRB NTPC CBT 2 exam for Level 4 and Level 6 is scheduled to be held on 9th and 10th May 2022.

How many candidates have been shortlisted in RRB NTPC CBT -1?
RRB releases a large number of vacancies across India, for which more than 1 crore candidates register every year. It is challenging for any organization to screen such a large number of applicants.
RRB will shortlist the candidates on the basis of normalized marks of RRB NTPC CBT 1 exam and cutoff decided by the board after qualifying CBT 1 exam. The number of candidates to be called for RRB NTPC CBT 2 exam will be 20 times the number of vacancies available for recruitment. RRB NTPC 2021 Selection
- The final selection of RRB NTPC will be based on the performance of the candidates in the Second Stage CBT and the performance of the candidates in both the Second Stage CBT and CBAT/TST (wherever required).
- Candidates equal to the number of vacancies as per merit and option will be called for document verification.
- Appointment of selected candidates will be after their requisite medical fitness test, final verification of educational and category certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates to be conducted by the Railway Administration.
