A total of loans worth Rs 9,790 crore have been disbursed so far to beneficiaries of the PM Street Vendor Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme, the government said in the Rajya Sabha. The scheme was launched during the Covid pandemic as a micro-credit scheme for street vendors in cities, with an aim to provide loans up to Rs 50,000.
Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, while replying to supplementary questions during Question Hour in the Upper House, said that the scheme is available in all urban local bodies across the country. All street vendors in urban areas are eligible for benefits under the PM Swanidhi Scheme.
