Yes, Zee5 has announced that it is soon going to launch a short video platform in India, which will be named HiPi. The company says that this new platform has been created under ‘Self-reliant India’, which will provide an Indian platform to Indian content creators.

This new HiPi platform of Zee5 will be launched before July 15, access to which will be provided by Zee5 App.

Not much information related to this new app has been shared. However, the shared screenshots reveal that using this new platform will require registration, after which users will be able to watch and share videos. From this it can be guessed that this new platform of Zee5 will be a little different from the Chinese platform, in the Chinese app TikTok users were not required to register or sign-in in any way to watch the uploaded videos. Videos could be watched on TikTok even without creating an account.

HiPi’s entry comes at an interesting time, when the Indian government has banned 59 Chinese apps in India, including TikTok. In such a situation, for those who were looking for an alternative to TikTok, HiPai can be a new option. However, HiPi is not the only platform that can fill the gap of TikTok in India, there are many apps before this platform which are proving to be quite successful as alternatives to TikTok. Zee5 from Zee Entertainment Enterprises already has 1.25 lakh hours of video on demand with over 100 live TV channels. Till now, this app was competing with OTT platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and SonyLIV, but now by entering the short video platform, it is going to allow users to make their own short videos, after which now this app There will be competition from platforms like Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

Recently, Zee5 provided free access to Zee5 for Jio Fiber, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea customers. Apart from this, ZEE5 Kids recently provided more than 4,000 free content for children on its platform, which supports 9 languages.
