YouTube Music has been launched in India shortly after the launch of Spotify. According to YouTube, there will be a separate mobile app for YouTube Music and also a web-based desktop interface for music streaming. With this service the user will get original songs, albums, playlists and artist radio. Apart from this, live performances, remixes and music videos from YouTube’s own catalog will also be available.
YouTube Music subscription plans and offers
The company is providing two types of services. The first is YouTube Music which is free and ad-supported, while the second is YouTube Music Premium which is paid and ad-free. Users taking premium subscription will be able to play songs and videos in the background of YouTube Music app even while working on mobile.
For YouTube Music Premium, you will have to pay Rs 99 per month. As part of the introductory offer, free subscription is being given for three months. The thing to note is that the benefit of this offer will be available only to those users who have not used YouTube or Google Music streaming service before.
YouTube Premium vs YouTube Music Premium
YouTube said that paid subscribers of Google Play Music will automatically get subscription to YouTube Music Premium, for this they will not need to pay separately. YouTube Music app is available for both Android and iOS platforms. YouTube Music will have direct competition in India with apps like Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, JioSaavn and Gaana. Except Amazon Music, plans for all other services start from Rs 99.
The second one is YouTube Premium. For this the user will have to pay Rs 129 per month, along with this he will also get free membership of YouTube Music Premium. Apart from this, subscribers will also be able to access YouTube Originals. You will not need any other app for this.
