WhatsApp Working on status tab design beta test revealed

The new beta version of WhatsApp 2.24.4.23 for Android offers a redesigned Status tab, which will improve the user experience. The update, available through the Google Play Store, offers a new interface for viewing status updates that focuses on easier access and better navigation within the app.

Unlike the previous horizontal layout and profile photo identification, the new design is simpler. This redesign update comes after feedback from users, who highlighted the lack of features in the previous layout. WhatsApp wants to improve the browsing experience by introducing larger thumbnails for previews, so users can easily decide which update to see in full. The redesign also affects the placement and visibility of channel posts within the Updates tab, including both statuses and channel updates. The new card-style format for status updates changes the way channel updates work. The first goal of these card-based previews is to facilitate easy selection and status viewing of status updates.

Currently this redesigned interface is in beta testing phase and is available to a select group of beta testers. How it will be in the stable version of WhatsApp will depend on the response of the users and the new technology. WhatsApp is also working on other features like synchronizing chat locks across devices for better security and testing a file-sharing feature like Android's Quick Share.
