While last time the media visibility setting was in the Data and Storage Usage setting, now it has been brought in ‘Contact Info’ and ‘Group Info’. This means that the user can also hide media files sent from a single contact. For this, the user has to go to the contact info and tap Media Visibility – No for that contact. Keep in mind, media visibility will already be on by default for contacts and groups.
Earlier, the Media Visibility feature gave the option to ‘Hide’ and ‘Show’ all contacts simultaneously. It came in beta version 2.18.194 of WhatsApp. However, WhatsApp quietly removed it in the previous version.
As per WhatsAppinfo report, the media visibility feature is live for WhatsApp beta version 2.18.194. The updated version of WhatsApp Beta can be downloaded under the Google Play Beta program. Also the APK file can be downloaded from APK Mirror.
