WhatsApp on Tuesday upgraded its money transfer experience in India and introduced a new Payments Backgrounds feature for its customers. The aim of this new feature is to provide personalized payment experience to WhatsApp users. This feature allows you to choose a relevant background whenever you send money to your friends and family using WhatsApp Payments. This experience has been made live for both Android and iPhone users. WhatsApp says that the core idea behind introducing the payment background feature is to provide users an element of expression while transacting money with their friends and family through the platform.

WhatsApp has added a list of seven backgrounds under this feature, from which you can select the most relevant background while sending money to your friends and family. Apart from this, some theme-based backgrounds have also been introduced, which includes Rakshabandhan. You can use this theme-based background while transferring money to your sister especially on the festival of Rakshabandhan which falls on Sunday, August 22. . Apart from this, WhatsApp has also added background to transfer money on occasions like birthday, holiday and travelling.

How to choose a payment background on WhatsApp

To select the payment background while making a new payment on WhatsApp, you have to tap on the background icon on the ‘Send Payment’ screen. After tapping on the icon, the app will show you the list of available backgrounds below, from which you can choose the background theme that matches you and your payment. Along with the background, you can also describe the reason why you are making the payment or your expression in the background.

After the process is completed, the recipient of the money will receive the payment with background.

Let us tell you, WhatsApp started WhatsApp Payment Service in November last year after several months of testing. This service was started with five banking partners, but later the number of partners reduced to four which are Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and State Bank of India (SBI). Jio Payments Bank was removed from the list in the service.
