WhatsApp Channels: Instant messaging platform WhatsApp has recently launched a feature called ‘Channels’. It has also been brought to India. Now WhatsApp has said that its channel feature has crossed the figure of 500 million (50 crore) monthly active users. WhatsApp has given this information through a release. It is said that the WhatsApp channel feature has registered this success within the first 7 weeks of its launch.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, which owns WhatsApp, has also shared this success. He posted on his WhatsApp channel that 50 crore monthly activities on WhatsApp channels in the first 7 weeks! It’s great to see the WhatsApp community so engaged.

What is WhatsApp channel?

This is a one-way broadcast tool. That means whoever creates his WhatsApp channel can send information related to himself to his followers. Followers cannot communicate with him directly. Text messages, photos, videos, stickers and polls can be sent through WhatsApp channel. This feature is available in a new tab named Updates.

Talking about other news, WhatsApp has started testing a new feature, with this users will be able to add e-mail address in WhatsApp on their iOS and Android smartphones. At present, WhatsApp users have to log in with their phone number to use the app. Users receive an OTP and the account becomes activated. As a new method, users are now being given the facility to verify their accounts through e-mail. Apart from this, WhatsApp is also working on the ability to share polls on its channels feature. This feature can also be launched soon.
