WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new wallpaper feature, which will help users set different wallpapers in different chats. Earlier this new feature was spotted in the iOS beta version, and now work has started on this feature for Android users also. Development on this feature has been seen in WhatsApp v2.20.199.5 beta for Android. As we mentioned, this feature is currently under development, so this feature is not available to the users yet. Nor can beta version users use this feature yet. It is believed that WhatsApp will release this feature for beta users in the future and then this feature will be made available to everyone.

This app is also on Google Play List and was last updated in 2011. As soon as the wallpaper feature goes live, WhatsApp will update the app with new options.

As we mentioned, this new wallpaper feature allows users to set different wallpapers for different chats, similar to what was previously seen in iOS. WABetaInfo says that this feature will also be released for Android users in the future, although the exact rollout date is not clear yet.

It is worth noting that recently news came out that WhatsApp is allegedly working on redesigning the storage section of its chat app, so that users can easily manage storage and create space by deleting unnecessary files. In this redesigned feature, a storage bar will be provided at the top, which gives details of the space used by the media files shared on WhatsApp. Apart from this, a clean up option is also provided in the screenshot, in which forward and large files will be listed with thumbnail view which gives users the option to delete unnecessary files to free up space. This feature is also currently under development, and has not been enabled yet even for WhatsApp beta users.
