Prabhjit Singh, President, Uber India and South Asia, said, “With this launch, we are providing better travel options for tourists and pilgrims while also opening up earning opportunities for many in the region.” The decision in Ayodhya is part of Uber's growth plan in India, as the company currently operates in 125 cities across the country. Singh said, “We work to promote hassle-free travel mode and promote economic development while contributing to the tourism of Ayodhya.”
Uber started testing its flexible pricing service Uber Flex in several tier 2 and 3 cities in India earlier this month. This feature allows passengers to bid at a specific fare for their ride. Uber Flex was first tested in India in October last year. Now it has been extended to Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Surat, Coimbatore, Gwalior, Indore, Aurangabad, Ajmer, Dehradun, Bareilly and other cities.
