Google has recently added three new features to Google Maps. These new features added to Google Maps are to help those who travel by public transport. After viewing the live traffic status on the route, you will also get information about the average travel time taken by public bus and live status of the train, if the train is late. The third feature is mixed-mode navigation, this feature will give the user information about the best route and also tell when they have to switch to the auto-rickshaw during the journey.

Real-time bus travel information

You will soon be able to get information about how long your bus journey will take on Google Maps. It will track live traffic conditions on the route. If there is a delay, the user will see a message in red, this message will provide you with information about how much delay you will face due to traffic on the route.

For your information, let us tell you that if there is no delay, the message will appear in green color. This feature will initially be available only in Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Mumbai, Mysore, Pune and Surat.

live train status

In Google Maps, users will be able to see the live status of the train, and will also be able to know whether the train is running late or not. The thing to note is that this feature will work only for long distance train journeys. Google’s official blog post states that this feature has been developed in collaboration with ‘Where is my Train’.

Mixed-Mode Navigation with Auto Rickshaw Recommendation

This feature is specially designed keeping in mind those who switch between bus and auto, metro and auto every day. With the help of this feature, you will be able to know from which station or stop and when you have to take the auto-rickshaw. Google Maps will also give you other important information like estimated auto fare.

Currently, this feature is for users living in Delhi and Bengaluru, this feature will be made available for other Indian cities also. We have seen these three features in the latest version 10.17.2 of Google Maps Android and in the beta version. But it seems that these features have not been made live yet.
