The owner of a restaurant in Greater Noida near Delhi was shot dead on Tuesday night. The fight reportedly started over a delay in an order. Three accused have been arrested after an encounter with the police. The deceased man ran a restaurant called Mitra inside an apartment complex. Late on Tuesday night, a delivery agent of online platform Swiggy reached the restaurant to take orders for chicken biryani and puri sabzi. Police said three youths on a bike, who they said were roaming near the restaurant, stopped and approached the delivery agent. One of the bikers worked with another food delivery service and had stopped by the Swiggy agent to ask about the job.

The Swiggy agent got into an argument with an employee when his order was delayed. The three men, who were intoxicated, also jumped into the fray and allegedly shot its owner Sunil Aggarwal in the head, police said.
A restaurant employee and other staff members took the man to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

Rakesh Nagar, who lives near the restaurant, said, “The employees called me to tell me that their owner had been shot. When I reached, he was still breathing. I first dialed 100 and then called an ambulance.” Called . Then we finally took him to the hospital in our car.”

After shooting the youth fled on the bike. After scanning the CCTV footage, the police started searching for the accused. On Wednesday morning the accused were seen in a street near the restaurant. An encounter ensued and one of the suspects was shot in the leg. All three were arrested.

Initial reports suggested possible involvement of a Swiggy agent. Swiggy said in a statement, “What has been reported is very worrying. If such a person was associated with Swiggy, we have reached out to the relevant authorities to help verify the identity of the person involved in this heinous incident. The online platform said that all its delivery partners are ready to provide delivery services after a court case or criminal background check.
