The Information’s Report According to , Facebook does not appear to be completely firm on its decision of not showing advertisements on WhatsApp. The social networking giant has reportedly suspended the push to bring in more ads to avoid “hostile regulators.”
Whatever it is, overall, if the report is true and Facebook truly implements this plan, then the company, which is already facing criticism regarding trust, may once again face criticism for taking advantage of the WhatsApp user base. This could also lead to mass deletion of Facebook accounts by WhatsApp users who do not want their messaging account to be included in their social media profiles.
It is not clear at this time whether Facebook plans to sell ads directly on WhatsApp or not. At the annual Facebook Marketing Summit in the Netherlands in May last year, Facebook showcased WhatsApp Status as a platform to earn money through advertising, just as it has been earning money by showing ads through Instagram Stories since January 2017. The company also reportedly revealed that status ads may only be launched sometime this year.
