Instant messaging app WhatsApp is working towards providing a new feature to Android users. According to the report of WABetaInfo website, work is going on on picture-in-picture feature for WhatsApp Android app. It is worth noting that the picture-in-picture video feature is already present on the iOS operating system. With the help of picture-in-picture video feature, users will be able to watch videos of Instagram and YouTube in WhatsApp itself.

After the introduction of WhatsApp Picture-in-Picture Video feature, Android phone users will not need to go to Instagram and YouTube apps to watch videos. The company had recently made version 2.18.234 of WhatsApp available to beta users through Google Play Beta Program.

According to a report, ‘WhatsApp has been working on making this feature live for the last several months. Since the introduction of this feature in iOS, it became clear that WhatsApp users will be able to watch videos of YouTube and Instagram in picture in picture mode on the messaging window. The report says that due to development reasons, the feature has not been released for the Android app at present. It is being said that the picture-in-picture video feature may be rolled out in one of the next few updates.

After the arrival of WhatsApp Picture in Picture feature for Android app, WhatsApp users will see a white colored play icon on YouTube and Instagram video links. On clicking the icon, a small box will open inside the app, in which the video will play. Users will be able to enlarge this box if they wish or place it anywhere as per their convenience.
