Paytm app was removed from Google Play, this is the reason

Paytm has been removed from Google Play. The company has confirmed that the reason behind its removal is the company’s recent addition of fantasy cricket tournament to the app, which violates Google Play policies. The Paytm app for iOS is still available for download via the Apple App Store. Apart from the Paytm app, Google Play has also removed the Paytm First Games app from its store, which includes similar fantasy cricket features but with real cricket betting.

Paytm app now has a Google Play listing error text appears, which reads (translated) “We’re sorry, the requested URL is not available on this server.” Users on Android devices are also not able to download apps from preloaded Google Play. Earlier on Friday, Google had posted a blog, in which the company gave information about its gambling policy, which does not allow app developers to provide sports betting facilities. This feature was being offered by Paytm through the recently announced fantasy cricket tournament and eventually Google removed the app from its platform.

Google said in its blog post (translated) “We do not allow online casinos or support any unregulated gambling apps that offer sports betting. This also includes if an app directs users to an external website that allows them to participate in paid tournaments to win real money or cash prizes, that is a violation of our policies. ” The company has confirmed that this was the reason for removing the Paytm app.
