Payment through Whatsapp decreased in January, this company won

WhatsApp has been facing criticism for the last several days due to its new privacy policy, due to which the instant messaging platform is facing huge losses. At the same time, now the latest report has revealed that compared to the month of December, people had reduced the use of WhatsApp’s payment feature in the month of January, due to which WhatsApp has suffered huge losses in the case of UPI transactions. According to the data of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) released by National Payments Corporation of India (NIII), in the month of January, users had significantly reduced the number of payments through WhatsApp. However, on the contrary, PhonePe has topped this category. According to the NPCI report, in the race of UPI apps, PhonePe app has achieved 41.21 percent share in the total market share, in which the terms of transactional volume of all the apps is Rs 2.35074 billion. The Walmart-owned app’s strong position has made it difficult for Google Pay to topple it, which is still in second place.

Despite the loss in transaction volume, the Facebook-owned app saw a 22 percent increase in payment value to Rs 36.44 crore in January. As we told, PhonePe is at the top in this list, which has received 968.72 million transactions in the month of January, which is worth Rs 1,91,973.77 crore. Transaction value on the PhonePe app was up 7.39 percent in December at Rs 902.03 million.

After PhonePe, Google Pay is at second place in this list, under which 853.53 million transactions took place in January worth Rs 1,77,791.47 crore. Google Pay saw a loss of 0.1 percent from Rs 854.49 million in the December month, which was worth Rs 176,199.33 crore.

Paytm Payments Bank is once again at the third position in this list, in which 281.18 million transactions were done in January which was worth Rs 33,909.50 crore. Talking about Amazon Pay, there were 46.30 million transactions worth Rs 4,044.38 crore.
