WhatsApp Android beta users can now request money from their contact list. This feature has been seen during testing. WhatsApp Payments currently allows users to send money. The ‘Request Money’ feature is currently visible but does not work. Apart from this, this feature of WhatsApp is limited to UPI ID and QR code. This is part of Android beta update v2.18.113 and is reportedly out of reach for most users right now. For your information, let us tell you that UPI-based payment feature is undergoing testing in India.

To use the new ‘Request Money’ feature, version v2.18.113 is required. In this you have to go to Settings – Payment – New Payment option. After this you have to select ‘UPI ID’ and ‘Scan QR Code’. After verification, select the recipient. Here, apart from ‘Pay Money’ and ‘Send Money’, the option of ‘Request Money’ can also be selected. Keep in mind, earlier only the facility to send money was started.

You will receive an SMS from the person to whom you have requested to send money. This can be done by the bank or by an app like ‘Phone Pay’. It depends on the user which UPI they have adopted. Google Tez users get this notification in the app itself. Later, complete details can be seen in ‘Payment History’.

…So how did you like the new feature of WhatsApp? Is it convenient? Did you adopt it? Please share your experience with us in the comments.
