The company has taken action against some accounts for violating Indian laws and WhatsApp’s terms of service. In its report, WhatsApp has informed about this action. According to a media report, the platform has banned 2.2 million or more than 22 lakh accounts in India in June. The report states that 426 requests and 16 complaints were made to ban the account due to security reasons. After this, action was taken on 64 accounts.
How does WhatsApp deal with abuse? Under this, the report states that apart from responding and taking action on user complaints, WhatsApp also deploys such tools and resources on its platform, which prevent misconduct.
WhatsApp says abuse detection using its tools operates in three phases: during registration, during messaging, and in response to negative feedback. According to WhatsApp, a team of analysts evaluates these functions.
For any complaint with WhatsApp, users can email wa@support.whatsapp.com. Apart from this, you can also report suspicious accounts through the app. Earlier in March, WhatsApp had banned more than 1.85 million (18 lakh) accounts.
